Mrs. Smith
Kindergarten Teacher

Hi, I'm Ashley Smith! I am the Kindergarten teacher at Roycemore School. I have been teaching for over 5 years and am loving every minute of it! I received my BA from the University of Wisconsin where I earned a degree in Sociology. Upon graduation I was a Sales Executive for CBS Radio and Clear Channel Communications. After many ups and downs I decided to pursue my true passion - teaching. I went back to school and received my Early Childhood Teaching License from Kendall College. While in school I started working at Roycemore School as the Pre-K Teaching Assistant. After I received my license I became the Pre-K teacher at Roycemore. I taught Pre-K for three years and am now the Kindergarten teacher.

I currently live in Skokie with my husband, daughter, and two four-legged friends – Madison and Mr. Boots. My husband Jeff and I have been married for seven years. I enjoy spending time with my family, going on long bike rides, cooking and trying new recipes, online shopping, and binge watching my favorite TV shows.

Why do you teach?
Teaching is a personally rewarding profession. It is a great pleasure and privilege watching my students personalities grow day by day and see how they develop in their learning. I get to experience things with them for the first time and see the excitement in their eyes. There is never a dull moment and no day is ever the same. It also doesn’t hurt to have summers off!

Why Roycemore?
When I began my teaching career, it began at Roycemore. I knew from day one that something special was happening here. Almost six years later, it still feels that way!
