A Little Bit of Light

Thank you Sanaya's mom for teaching us all about Diwali and their family's traditions! Diwali is the Indian Festival of Lights. We learned that during Diwali, people wear their finest clothes, illuminate their homes with diyas, light fireworks, and partake in family feasts, where sweets and gifts are shared. The kindergarten kids had the opportunity to paint and decorate diyas, listen to a story, and sing songs!

Fundations

The kids continue to work hard on proper letter formation. It's great to see the kids confidence grow as they learn to stretch out words and write the sounds they hear!

Mystery Sentences

Together we read the sentence and paused at each word with a missing part. The students took turns inserting each vowel. It was fun trying to figure out the words by sounding out the words.

Art: 3D Paper Sculptures

The kindergarten artists have been observing the differences between 2D and 3D lines. First, they drew many different 2D lines. Nest, they used strips of paper to turn their 2D lines into 3D lines by bending, curving and folding. Lastly, they assembled all their 3D lines together to create their own unique Paper Sculptures!

PE

This week the kids experienced the gym for the first time! It was great getting the opportunity to play new games in a new space.

Math: Domino Addition

The kindergarten kids have been working hard on number sense and learning how numbers work together. This week we reinforced the concept of adding two numbers together. I love using manipulatives during our math time. It makes it feel more like a game to the students. This time we’re using dominos to help us add.

Creative Movement

Movement games with Ms. Aimee!

Colors of Fall Texture Collage

Sensory experiences are one of my favorite things to do with the kids. The kids get the opportunity to create and get a little messy! I also love how each collage is different and showcases the kids personalities.

Mystery Reader

This week our mystery reader was Ian's mom! Thank you so much for reading to us.
