Today was a great day! The kids celebrated with friends and enjoyed crafts, treats, cards, and a special movie. What a busy day!
Earlier in the week, the children participated in many fun and engaging activities. Let's take a look!
Storybook STEM
The K-kids participated in a STEM activity, inspired by Alexis O'Neill's "The Recess Queen." After reading the story, the class designed their own playgrounds using a variety of items including craft sticks, straws, construction paper, toothpicks, cardboard tubes, and pipe cleaners. The kids worked hard creating swings, slides, monkey bars, and even a roller coaster!
Journals
This past weekend a beautiful Griffin statue was installed. The artist, Pawel Nawrocki, spent the last year creating the masterpiece. The statue weighs 1800 lbs! For journals this week the children wrote thank you notes to Mr. Nawrocki thanking him for the statue.
Fundations
During fundations this week the kids practiced "tapping" the sounds in CVC words. Hearing the individual sounds in words (phonological awareness) is a vital set of skills that allows children to learn how to read and write.
PE with Coach Long
This week the kiddos enjoyed Scooter Relay Races and Noodle Tag!
Art with Mr. Matt
